Styling your family for a photography session.
There are four main rules to styling your family for pictures.
By Tracy Goerzen
Rule one: Coordinate don't match. Try to use complimentary colors instead of putting everyone in the same color.
Rule two: Start with one outfit. Start with your outfit and pull colors from that for the rest of the family.
Rule three: Mix textures. Using different textures can help break up the flatness of using all the same texture. Try using denim, lace, cotton and knit.
Rule Four: Avoid distractions. Avoid using clothing with large pints, graphics or bright colors that draw attention away from the main focus, the family.
- Try to stick to cool earth tones like blues, greens creams or muted pinks.
- Stay away from loose fitting or baggy clothing.
- A cohesive 2-4 color pallet would be ideal.
- Change it up for different seasons. Summer / Spring season opt for softer earth tones and Winter/ Fall season opt for richer earth tones.
- Using these tips will help you and your family have a timeless photo to treasure for years to come.
